Jaime Moran entered our program in September 2015 with 15 credits. Her goal was to complete her high school diploma by May 2016. Jaime needed 24 credits to graduate, but opted to take extra classes such as American Sign Language and College Transition English. She managed to complete her studies by the timeline she set for herself with an A- average, and a total of 29.5 credits by May 2016.
In May 2016, Jaime enrolled at YCCC as a full time student majoring in Psychology. She completed her two year Associate’s degree by August 17, 2019 and managed to stay on the Dean’s list for the majority of the semesters. In addition to her classes at YCCC, she completed an internship at the Center for Grieving Children. Jaime conducted a parent group in Sanford and a teen group at Biddeford High School for six months. She will continue to attend YCCC to complete her second major in Criminal Justice and take part in the May 2020 graduation. She’s holding strong to her educational aspirations and working full time while completing her studies.
Jaime’s next goal is to enroll in Southern New Hampshire University to work towards her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Forensics. She hopes to do an internship at Biddeford Adult Education to pay it forward.
Once her degrees are complete, in addition to a full time job, Jaime would like to teach a Psychology class at night for Biddeford Adult Education. She would like to give back to the program that helped start her journey to success. Jaime’s long term aspiration is to work in Forensics at Quantico, Virginia. She knows this is a huge undertaking, but if anyone can do it, it’s Jaime.
Jaime gave a speech at her Biddeford Adult Education graduation. Her words resonate as I see her accomplishment. “We may not have the power to inspire the entire world for success, but we do have the power to achieve it ourselves.” “Your individual successes benefit the world, because when you succeed, you are in a position to give rather than take.” “No matter what, try to excel in everything you do; strive for excellence in every task, large or small although it may not be easy to see, every accomplishment you achieve is added to the world.”
Congratulations Jaime! We are so proud of you and your accomplishments. The sky is the limit, keep reaching for the stars!
